Nkhotakota community Radio is anon profit making media house  The station was set up by members of the community with  donation from the Malawi National Commission for UNESCO as a community project in order to promote developmental activities through programs that are development conscious in raising awareness to the communities to realize the importance of participation on issues of livelihoods.

Licensed by Malawi Communication Regulatory AUTHORITY [MACRA]. As a community based on geographical interest of the people of Nkhotakota district within a radius of 100kms. The station is also registered with register general under limited companies act by guarantee. The station is also a member of other media institution such as the National Media Institute of Southern Africa [NAMISA] and Media council of Malawi

Started its transmission on 21 November 2003 with over 500.000 estimated national audience mainly from Nkhotakota district and the surrounding areas

Nkhotakota Community Radio is Media house working under the board of trustees, governance structure stretches from the board of Directors, Management and operation staff
